Gestamp, world leader in the design, development and manufacture of metal components and assemblies for major automakers worldwide, has been awarded in the large company category granted by the Spanish Company for Financial Development (COFIDES, SA). This reward is one of 7 Awards "Promotion of Internationalization" which COFIDES recognizes institutions and leading Spanish companies in economic activity worldwide.
The awards ceremony took place during the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of COFIDES, celebrated at the Casa de America in Madrid and chaired by the Secretary of State for Trade, Jaime García-Legaz.
The award for "Large company exterior project" has gone to Gestamp due to its broad international presence with the use of several financial products of COFIDES. Continuous commitment to innovation by Gestamp, which has 12 R&D centers - its dragging effect, its broad international presence (present in 19 countries, with 96 manufacturing plants and 30,000 employees) and their respect for the environment have been key factors to obtaining the award.
Gestamp’s President, Francisco J. Riberas Mera, assured, "Globalization is a key pillar of our corporate growth strategy because we must be where our customers the OEMs, need us. Gestamp has received COFIDES support for several projects in Mexico, Russia and China. The new expansion project in China, in which Gestamp has a strong presence, consists in two greenfield plants in Dongguan and Shenyang used for trimming and stamping components for the automotive industry. This project has been supported again by COFIDES.
