2019 has been full of key moments, little steps aimed at achieving important milestones, which have contributed to build Gestamp’s history. There are many pillars that support the heart of the company, but two of them ensure its present and future: innovation and training.
Training and innovation, as the basis of the Group’s strategy, are the issues that have underpinned Gestamp's fundamental purpose. Both are two sides of the same coin that played a leading role in one of the key moments in 2019. More specifically, on May 23rd.
It was May 23rd when Bill gates visited Gestamp’s production plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee (U.S.A.), as part of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s K-12 Education program, where he got to learn first-hand about the dual education project for students.
The philanthropist, founder of Microsoft, took an interest in the training system, based on the concept of “learning by doing” ("Work-Based Learning Program" - WBL), which the multinational components company carries out in the US plant in collaboration with local authorities.
Three cohorts of students, 77 youngsters overall, have taken part at Gestamp Chattanooga’s training program, which began in 2017. It comes from the company's global concept of dual theoretical and practical training (vocational training), which focuses on the specialization of professionals and future professionals in the sector in line with the business.
Gestamp works every day to manufacture innovative products that help make vehicles safer and better for the environment. In order to do this, Gestamp must have the best trained professionals. This is a clear commitment towards industrial talent. For the present and future, not only of Gestamp, but of the automotive sector.
