Responsible supply chain

Building a more responsible supply chain

"Our commitment to sustainability is throughout the entire supply chain, starting with partnerships with our suppliers for the integration of ESG criteria that allow us to strengthen a value-added ecosystem"

The automotive sector is characterized by having increasingly complex supply chains that require robust internal systems and procedures to manage suppliers, subcontractors, and collaborators in a global and responsible manner.

Gestamp, as a strategic supplier (Tier 1) of vehicle manufacturers, has a responsible management of the supply chain and seeks to establish alliances with the main suppliers to build a value ecosystem capable of responding to the needs of the main stakeholders.

Traceability throughout the value chain

Gestamp has a supplier management system that includes procedures and tools that make it possible to control the entire value chain from registration to the formalization of orders, delivery and execution, invoicing, rights, and responsibilities.

All Gestamp's critical suppliers are included in the Supplier Risk Management and Approval Platform, a management system based on external supplier risk management. This aims to globally monitor all suppliers according to different risk factors in order to be able to react resiliently to any uncertainty and change in the market quickly and efficiently.

The combination of internal data and data obtained from external sources makes it possible to establish a supplier risk profile tailored to Gestamp's needs.

Sustainability in the supply chain

Gestamp has mandatory environmental, social, and ethical requirements for suppliers of goods and services throughout the supply chain, including subcontractors regardless of the country in which they perform their services. These requirements cover human rights, labor standards, business ethics, environmental protection, and safety, among other issues.

The approval platform also incorporates a system that makes it possible to monitor and evaluate the supplier based on ESG criteria and to configure a score based on Gestamp's needs.

Within the quality audits, ESG criteria are taken into account in which the issues of environmental risks, human rights, occupational health and safety, anti-corruption policies and bribery, among others, are examined in depth.

ESG training for suppliers is important for the responsible management of the value chain. Gestamp is committed to an ESG Academy to offer courses to its supplier network on key ESG issues.

Responsible sourcing of raw materials

Gestamp implemented a Conflict Minerals Policy in 2014 according to which its suppliers must comply with laws regarding responsible sourcing of minerals (Dodd Franck Act and EU Regulation 2017/821), conduct and carry out legally required investigations in relation to minerals from conflict areas and, in the event of any impact being identified, report and initiate actions to find alternative sources of supply of the affected minerals as soon as possible.
