Francisco J. Riberas, President and CEO at Gestamp, pointed out the “double relevance of Mexico in the strategic plan of the company as a mainstay for growth towards the self-propulsion market in the United States and motor power in Latin America”.

Riberas stressed “the firmness of the bet Gestamp is making on Mexico, is reflected both on the promised investment on the technological state of the art innovations installed in this second Puebla plant, and in our alliance in America with Mitsui”.

The Japanese conglomerate was represented in the Puebla II ceremony and they are partners in the Gestamp operations in the American perimeter since 2013, which include the markets of Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, and the United States.

This new plant is framed in the context of the Mexican automotive industry consolidation as a vehicle exporter and is added to the recent announcements of new assembly plants openings. With the opening of Puebla II the Spanish group reinforces its world leadership as the main world-class supplier of the sector in Mexico of clients such as Volkswagen, Audi, Chrysler, Fiat, Nissan, General Motors, and Freightliner.

Gestamp will increase operations in the Puebla II plant during the next three years, allocating for it an investment of 55 million euros (71 million dollars) more in its second phase and will extend its surface to a total surface of 43,000 square meters.
